Penyengat Island
Pulau Penyengat is an offshore island from Tanjung Pinang known as the royal abode of the kings. Board a Pompong (water taxi) from Tanjung Pinang pier to Penyengat Island and spot Masjid Raya Sultan Riau (Sultan of Riau’s Grand Mosque) in striking royal yellow. You will visit the historical sites on a Becak (motorised trishaw), starting at Raja Hamidah’s tomb surrounded by her family and servants’ graves, their headstones draped with royal yellow.
The last stop is Fort Bukit Kursi. Equipped with multiple cannons overlooking the South China Sea, it was built to defend against Dutch invaders and deemed one of the best fortresses during its day. You'll then return to Tanjung Pinang for a sumptuous seafood lunch and head to Bintan Indah Mall and TCC Mall for a shopping spree.
